You’ll be working at Whyalla Beef, a feedlot involved in the breeding, backgrounding and lot feeding of beef cattle. Located 25km northwest of Texas on the Queensland /New South Wales border, it’s recognised as one of the friendliest communities in Australia. Surrounded by national parks and waterholes, this rural area is heaving with possibilities for your weekend escapes including fishing, canoeing, four-wheel driving, motorbiking, hiking and camping. We are recruiting for an experienced Camp Chef.  You will have day-to-day responsibility for the preparation of meals and kitchen clean-up at our Riverview Camp.  The position is a strong role model for safety in the workplace.

A 6/8 roster is on offer which will require flexible working hours, including weekends, but no late nights.  An above-award industry wage including penalty rates will be offered to the successful applicant.

This is a permanent part-time position with accommodation included onsite whilst on shift.  Training and development opportunities will also be a feature of this position.


  • Experience within a commercial kitchen and/or as a Camp Chef, including baking, pastry commercial home-style cooking
  • A passion for food and cleanliness, coupled with a strong work ethic, taking pride in the quality and consistency of the food you produce
  • Enthusiasm for your work with a positive, friendly, can-do attitude
  • Current Food Safety Certificate or willing to obtain
  • You work well under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen environment as part of a team or on your own
  • Great communication skills
  • You are pro-active and take initiative
  • You possess exceptional interpersonal skills
  • You are self-motivated and can work with minimal supervision
  • You are a team player who is willing to help anywhere
  • Hold a current driver’s license
  • Can pass a pre-employment medical and are Q-Fever vaccinated (or willing to obtain)
