Wingham Beef Exports, is a beef processing plant in the Manning Valley, just 3 hours north of Sydney. We have a unique opportunity for a Risk Manager to join our team. Reporting directly into the Senior Manager Risk Role, you’ll manage and co-ordinate the activities, ensuring that all elements of the risk management framework are up-to-date and effectively implemented.

THE OPPORTUNITY

The successful applicant will be responsible for determining, safety and security risks for the company. You will help us limit risks in our daily operations by conducting assessments and training the required personnel. This role is integral to developing and maintaining key elements of the Risk Management & Training Frameworks in line with regulatory expectations and business needs, and to the integration of risk disciplines across the company. ABOUT THE ROLE

  • Positively influence safety culture within Wingham Beef Exports at all levels, including maintenance and production teams
  • Ensure the ongoing development of Health and Safety Management system for effective and consistent implementation across the organisation
  • Facilitate risk assessments, review incidents and undertake investigations; identify learnings and opportunities for improvement
  • Develop, monitor and implement health and safety improvement plans and annual programs
  • Lead, implement and promote organisational safety and wellbeing initiatives, including liaising with group teams for alignment of initiatives and programs across the NH Foods Group
  • Support and work closely with operations teams in proactively managing day to day safety activities
  • Lead and develop the safety team and ensure that they are driving outcomes
  • Provide high level advice to senior management team and key stakeholders across a full range of safety related matters
  • Contribute to and present at business reviews
  • Provide oversight and analyse worker’s compensation claims to ensure effective Claims Management, injury management and return to work activities are undertaken
  • Liaise with worker’s comp insurers, rehabilitation providers and other external agencies for reporting purposes
  • Monitor and interpret legislation and best practice across industry and advise management of intended actions required
  • Develop and ensure the implementation of training programs
  • Manage training department to ensure all employees are trained and competency standards are met to minimise risk whilst maintaining legislative compliance

ABOUT YOU

Qualification, Experience & Skills we are looking for:

  • Formal qualifications in WHS, Training are a requirement for this role
  • A minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role
  • A strong understanding of Work Health & Safety principles
  • Strong work ethic, self-motivated, and reliable
  • Industry Experience of Meat Processing facilities an advantage
  • Demonstrate experience in risk management methodologies, policy and procedure design and documentation
  • Ability to develop and deliver solution-based advice on risk issues
  • Formal qualification in Frontline Management an advantage
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Effective time management skills
  • Demonstrated effective judgement and decision making
  • Current driver’s license essential
