Safe Work is For Life

Posted September 2026

October is National Safe Work Month, a time for workplaces across Australia to put work health and safety front of mind. The theme for 2026 is Safe work is for life, and highlights the importance of preventing harm not just in the moment, but protecting people’s lives for their future health and wellbeing.

For us, safety is a responsibility we uphold with care and commitment. While safety informs part of our everyday work, National Safe Work Month is a reminder to slow down and consider how we can keep ourselves and each other safe at work.

Throughout October, National Safe Work Month will explore 4 weekly focus areas:

Week 1: For life – why WHS matters
Week 2: For health – what WHS protects
Week 3: For the future – the long-term impact
Week 4: For all – action across all workplaces.

The period between October and December can often bring additional pressures and distractions. Warmer weather, end-of-year deadlines, thoughts of upcoming holidays, travel, and family plans can take our focus elsewhere. Maintaining our high safety standards during this period requires our teams to stay diligent, follow processes and speak up if something does not look right.

It’s also an important reminder to look out for the people around us. Heat, fatigue, workload and other pressures can impact our approach to safety, so it’s important to check in with colleagues to ensure they are have the support they need.

This National Safe Work Month, we’ll be continuing conversations across our sites about safety and looking at how we can keep those conversations going beyond October.

Because safe work is for life.
