Head Stockman

Opportunity

Whyalla Beef is seeking an experienced Head Stockman to lead our pen riding team at our large commercial feedlot, located 25km from Texas in southern Queensland.

Whyalla Beef is one of Australia’s largest and most innovative feedlots, with a current capacity of 75,000 head. Located near Texas on the QLD/NSW border, we are continuing to grow and are looking for people who want to be part of that journey.

What skill are we looking for?

This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone with strong horsemanship, cattle handling experience, and the ability to lead by example.

  • Lead and support the pen riding team
  • Monitor cattle health and welfare
  • Assist with drafting, processing and treating cattle
  • Maintain high standards of low-stress stock handling
  • Oversee horse allocation and rider capability
  • Work closely with the Livestock leadership team to maintain high animal welfare outcomes

What experience are we looking for?

  • Strong horse riding and cattle handling experience
  • Previous experience in a senior stockman or pen rider role
  • Confident leading and supporting a team
  • Practical, reliable and safety-focussed
