Former NRL star Darius Boyd visited our Oakey plant ahead of World Mental Health Day, sharing his personal journey with employees and highlighting the importance of wellbeing, resilience and open conversations about mental health.
Throughout the morning, Darius participated in Q&A sessions with teams across the plant giving them the opportunity to hear his story and ask questions. He also met with the Oakey Leadership Team and joined office staff for a barbecue.

Drawing on his own experiences, Darius spoke about the importance of resilience, maintaining wellbeing and having the courage to start meaningful conversations about mental health.
His message reinforced that everyone’s experience is different, and that checking in with colleagues, friends and family can make a real difference. It also highlighted the importance of creating environments where people feel comfortable speaking up and seeking support when they need it.

Darius’ visit aligned with our National Safe Work Month activities across the Group, as we recognise that safety extends beyond physical risks to include mental health and psychological wellbeing. Creating a safe workplace means looking out for each other, speaking openly and ensuring people feel supported to ask for help when they need it.
A big thank you to Darius for taking the time to share his story with our Oakey team and helping encourage meaningful conversations.
