We’re thrilled to mark our fourth consecutive year partnering with Angus Australia for the NH Foods Angus Foundation Cadetship. This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity for young people passionate about the red meat industry to get hands-on experience and see the full process from pastures to plate.
Since launching in 2023, the cadetship has given cadets a look behind the curtain of the beef industry. Our inaugural cadet, Chloe Plowman, 2024 cadet, Toreen Denyer, and 2025 cadet, Declan Campbell, gained invaluable insights into our supply chain, building their skills across a multitude of sectors.

The four-week cadetship covers all aspects of NH Foods operations:
- Whyalla Beef feedlot: Cadets spend a week at one of Australia’s largest feedlots, Whylla Beef, on the New South Wales-Queensland border, learning everything from cattle receival process to animal health management and rationing.
- Processing plants: Cadets spend one week each at our Wingham plant in New South Wales and our Oakey plant in Queensland, two of Australia’s leading facilities where they will get a behind-the-scenes look at industry-leading, technologically advanced processing.
- NH Foods head office, North Sydney: Cadets will join our Marketing, Sales, Shipping, Documentation, and Production teams for the week, getting to know our branded beef programs and how we bring a finished product to market.
Andrew McDonald, NH Foods Australia Director, believes the cadetship offers a rare perspective on the industry.
“What makes this cadetship unique is the chance to see the entire beef supply chain in action. From breeding and feeding, through processing, and all the way to marketing and sales, the selected cadet gets to experience how each step connects.”
“It’s a rare opportunity to witness the start of the journey all the way through to the end result and gain an understanding on how a vertically integrated business like ours operates to deliver a premium product to our customers.”
The cadetship wraps up with the Marcus Oldham Rural Leadership Program in Geelong, Victoria. This five-day workshop is one of the nation’s longest-running rural leadership courses and helps cadets build the skills they’ll need to lead within their industries and communities.
