Middle East Demand for Australian Beef at Gulfood

Posted February 2026

From 26-30 January , 2026, buyers, exporters, and industry leaders came together at the Dubai World Trade Centre and Dubai Exhibition Centre for Gulfood. This was the first time the event ran across two venues, making it the biggest Gulfood yet, with over 8,500 exhibitors, more than 1.5 million products, and participants from 195 countries.

This year, 37 Australian red meat exporters joined the Meat and Livestock Australia (MLA) Stand, to showcase the very best that Australian proteins have to offer. Our team proudly presented three of our premium brands, Angus Reserve Black Angus Beef, Oakey Premium Wagyu, and OMUGI Grainfed Beef.

The Middle East is a strong and growing market for Australian beef. In 2025, exports to the region reaches record levels, with total beef exports to the UAE valued at $316 million, and chilled beef making up 84% of that (Source: MLA). The demand for premium, Halal-certified Australia beef is there, and it’s never been stronger.

For our Export Sales team, Gulfood provided an opportunity to catch up with existing customers and develop longer-term partnerships. Key topics of discussion this year focussed on market trends, upcoming opportunities, and the value of consistent and reliable supply.

Gulfood 2026 marked an exciting period of growth for Australian beef in the Middle East and we’re looking forward to seeing how the market continues to grow.
