That’s a wrap on the 2026 ICMJ Northern Conference, held in Rockhampton, QLD from 8-11 April! As a Major Partner of this year’s conference, and long-time supporters of the ICMJ program, the Northern Conference continues to be a real highlight in our calendar.
This year brought together 139 delegates from five states and territories, with a mix of both industry and university participants. This is a great reflection of the strong collaboration between education and industry in the beef industry.
We had two team members take part in the competition, with Jessica Cochrane from our Mackay plant and Zachary Balke from our Oakey plant representing NH Foods. They were coached and supported by Whyalla Beef feedlot team member and ICMJ Committee Member Brianna Meacle.

Kicking things off on Thursday night with the Northern Industry and Careers Exhibition, our team met with students interested in graduate opportunities within our group and the multitude of pathways that are available to them.

As a Major Partner, Friday night dinner was on us, served up at the iconic Great Western Hotel. On the menu were two delicious beef recipes designed by our Brand Partner Chef Jason Roberts, using our Nature’s Fresh Natural Beef. Guests enjoyed Nature’s Fresh Beef Cheek Lasagne to start, followed by a Herb and Gruyère Crusted Striploin for the main.

The feedback on the dinner was great, with Jason’s lasagne proving so popular it’s now being added to the Great Western Hotel’s permanent menu.
Events like ICMJ are such an important reminder of what makes this industry special, bringing together future leaders, professionals, and educators all invested in where the sector is heading. We’re proud to be involved and look forward to further supporting the next generation of beef leaders.
